	Corgi Aviation Archive 1/48 scale AA51907: Bell H-13 Sioux XT131/B of the Army Aircraft Historic Flight, Middle Wallop, England, 2005 Length 10.75 inches Rotor span 9.25 inches The Historic Army Flight had been in existence for more than 20 years when some aircraft went out of service and were gifted to the School of Army Aviation at Middle Wallop. For more than 20 years, forward-thinking people in the Army Air Corps have done their best to ensure that at least one example of aircraft used by the Corps remains airworthy. Most people know the Sioux from the TV show "M.A.S.H." The huge bubble canopy is very distinctive. Originally designed as a single engine, light helicopter for use by civilians, the Bell H-13 Sioux first flew on December 8, 1945 as the Bell 47 prototype. Later redesignated H-13 by the United States Army Air Forces, the improved aircraft was used as an observation and basic training helicopter. The design is characterized by a full bubble canopy, skid landing gear and welded-tube tail boom. It has two high-level mounted saddle fuel tanks and a two bladed single rotor. The H-13 was immortalized by the long-running television show M.A.S.H., where it was portrayed in its role as a medevac aircraft.
